Haas said what they expect from Berman this season

Oliver Berman has been named as a candidate for the 2025 Haas job. According to manager Ayo Komatsu, when assessing Berman, the team will not so much take into account the results in Formula 2, but the young driver’s productivity during the Friday training sessions. he will have to perform during the season.

“Of course Berman has to show results in Formula 2, but if we work directly with him we have to understand his strengths and weaknesses, the reason why certain things happen,” Komatsu said during a meeting with the press in Miami. “That’s why I will attach more importance to our work with him, to the way he works behind the wheel of our car. But of course he has to achieve results in Formula 2.

So far, many questions remain open. We have six Friday training sessions with Ollie, and the first takes place in Imola. We look forward to seeing how we can help him improve and how well we work together.

The most important thing is to evaluate whether the rider understands what his training goals are and whether he can complete the tasks given to him. If a driver is only interested in getting on the track and showing the world how fast he is, then this is not a mature approach.

But Ollie isn’t like that. He showed last year in training in Mexico City and Abu Dhabi that he has speed, understands the big picture and can make a positive contribution to the team. And this year I want to see a continuation of all of this.

And if he has technical problems that cause him to lose half his session time, how will he react? I’m curious to see how Berman deals with these kinds of setbacks.”
