Porsche has requested permission to acquire a 50% stake in the Red Bull team, according to Motorsport-Total.
The deal was due to be announced at the Austrian Grand Prix but was pushed back at the last minute as the FIA World Motor Sport Council was unable to approve engine rules from 2026 .
It is also reported that Porsche management continues to negotiate the acquisition of 75% of Sauber with team co-owner Finn Rausing.
Earlier it was reported that Audi intended to offer around 500 million euros for the purchase of the McLaren team, and Porsche intended to enter into a long-term cooperation with Red Bull in as a technical partner.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is the reigning world champion and leads the drivers’ standings this season, while the team also leads the constructors’ championship.
