Williams drivers Logan Sargent and Alex Albon completed the qualifying protocol for the sprint of the Miami Grand Prix. A small consolation for Sargent may be that for the first time in his career, according to the qualifying results, he took a higher starting place than his partner.
Logan Sargent (19th): “I had a good pace with a lot of potential, but in the first sector I locked my wheels and lost the chance to progress. Unfortunately, the driver only has one set of tires in qualifying for the sprint. Let’s see how Saturday’s sprint goes.”
Alex Albon (20th): “We often have problems in sprint qualifying due to the fact that we have to use harder rubber compounds. In addition, we adjusted the car settings slightly after the training, but unfortunately the risk did not pay off.
What we changed, including some aerodynamic elements, was a step in the right direction, but the result was not what was expected and ultimately a compromise had to be made.
Let’s wait for Saturday’s sprint, and then we will change the car settings. I hope this will help me improve.”
