At the start of the sprint of the Miami Grand Prix, there was a first-corner collapse involving Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll and Lando Norris. The sprint ended there for Norris and Stroll, but the stewards did not impose any penalties on anyone.
Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso believes Lewis Hamilton is responsible for the incident, but the stewards did not punish him because he is “not Spaniard”.
“We will see what the stewards decide, but I don’t think they will decide anything because he is not Spaniard,” Fernando said after the finish of the sprint on DAZN. “I think Lewis ruined the race for several drivers, especially Norris, who had a very fast car but retired as a result of the incident.
I didn’t get a fine today, but I always get a fine. I was driving behind Esteban Ocon and could have taken the risk of overtaking him, but logically I decided not to take that risk to avoid a fine.
“I tried to finish the sprint, do 19 laps, come back to the team and discuss what needed to be changed on the car.”
