The head of the Red Bull sports program, Oliver Mintzlaff, responded to the boss of the Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, hinting at the possible transfer of Max Verstappen to his team…
Oliver Mintzlaff: “Verstappen is a true racer, he wants to win every race, every qualifying, every training. This connects us. It’s in the blood of both us and him. He found the perfect team for this, which built the best Formula 1 car.
Max has a long-term contract, he never said a word that he did not want to fulfill it. It doesn’t bother me at all. Everyone needs to calm down. We want what Max wants. This is what you need if you want to achieve long-term success in sports, be it football or Formula 1.
I understand that Toto Wolff and perhaps other teams feel a lot of pressure after years of underperformance. I think Wolf needs to focus on solving his problems. And you should not discuss the personnel issues of other teams – this is wrong.
Like I said, Max wants the fastest car. We got it. Max wants to become world champion. He has a better chance with us. Plus, Red Bull is a great brand that’s easy to identify with. So there are many reasons to stay, and none are against it.”
