Andrea Stella about Magnussen’s rule violations

During the sprint in Miami, Kevin Magnussen received three 10-second penalties for blocking Lewis Hamilton – and admitted he did it on purpose. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella believes that deliberate violations on the part of Magnussen, who tried to help his teammate earn points, should be severely punished.

Andrea Stella: “For me in this situation everything is simple. The driver acts in a manner that deliberately causes harm to the other team. Furthermore, this behavior is repeated throughout the season.

I believe that such fines cannot be cumulative, but should be exponential. It’s not that 5+5+5 equals 15. In that case, 5+5+5 should lead you to spend the weekend at home with your family, think about your sportsmanship, and then come back.

If we see that you have become a loyal, honest and sporty racer, then you can continue to do business, otherwise this is completely unacceptable.”
