The Williams drivers did not earn any points in the sprint, but in qualifying for Sunday’s race they performed better than the day before…
Alex Albon (14th): “In qualifying everything depended on the tyres. Even during one fast lap we had to monitor their condition. It seemed like the faster you tried to go, the worse your lap times were.
The high track temperature seems to hurt us more when we use less downforce for better speed on the straights, so in Turn 11 the tires stop working. Let’s see what result I can get from fourteenth.”
Logan Sargent (17th): “On Friday I was confident that the car’s speed would allow me to qualify for the second part of qualifying. I was happy with the way we adjusted the settings, but executing our plan was challenging due to the traffic and high density of results.
I will try to do better in the race and take every opportunity to achieve more. We have good speed on the straights to keep our opponents behind us.”
