Athletistic/Formula 1. McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Miami Grand Prix. This is the Briton’s first triumph in Formula 1. He held the record for the most podiums (15) without a victory in F1.
At the finish of the race, Norris, who started from fifth position, was more than 7 seconds ahead of overall leader Max Verstappen of Red Bull. Next come Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull), George Russell (Mercedes), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Esteban Ocon (Alpin) also finished in the top 10.
Verstappen leads the Formula 1 general standings, 35 points ahead of Perez. Red Bull took first place in the constructors’ championship.
The next Formula 1 round will take place in Italy at the Imola circuit on May 19.
