Even before the start of the season, Ralf Schumacher, a former Formula 1 driver, said he believed in Lando Norris’ potential.
“Lando is a great driver, but in qualifying he sometimes asks too much of the car, although I think he is the one who can challenge Max Verstappen,” Ralf said at the time, participating in the Formula for Success podcast.
And yesterday Lando made all his fans happy by achieving an impressive victory in Miami, including confidence for the current world champion.
“The first victory is always a very important achievement, which brings relief for the driver,” said Schumacher about Sky Deutschand. “You wait a long time for this, but when you finally achieve success, you experience great joy that day.”
Now Lando has a car with which he can certainly achieve more than one victory, but at the same time the expectations attached to him will now be higher. The racer always strives for new achievements, and despite all the joy of his first victory, Norris will soon start thinking about the next race.
The season is developing very interestingly, the level of intrigue is increasing and many factors influence this. Ferrari is getting stronger, but McLaren is also gaining momentum. However, you should not rush to conclusions – let a few more races pass, and then the picture will become clearer, because in Miami the asphalt surface has special features. Under such circumstances, Red Bull Racing is starting to struggle, as we saw in Singapore last year.
In any case, I am convinced that we have witnessed Lando Norris’s first, but not last, victory.”
Once upon a time, Ralf Schumacher achieved the first of his six Grand Prix victories on his 70th attempt – in April 2001 he won the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola driving a Williams BMW. Yesterday’s Miami Grand Prix, which ended with Norris’ victory, was the 110th race of the 24-year-old Briton’s career.
