At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Haas brought a new car, which was received by Kevin Magnussen. During Friday practice, the team evaluated the new items and made direct comparisons with the previous version of the VF-22, which will be driven by Mick Schumacher this weekend.
Kevin Magnussen (16th): “The day went smoothly – we had no problems and the car made a good impression. Overall, it lives up to expectations, so I’m happy.
There is still work to be done to get more out of the novelty – it will take time, but for now everything is fine. Hopefully tomorrow we will take a step forward. Apparently qualifying will be rainy so surprises are possible.
Mick Schumacher (17th): “The day turned out to be quite difficult – the track feels bumpy on the new generation of cars. We are trying to find out the location of the bumps and adjust the car settings.
The team will have to work on speed with an empty and full tank, but the greatest attention must be paid to speed over a long distance.
Usually our car is fast in the rain, so let’s hope for the best tomorrow. If we manage to get all the components together, the result will be high.”
Gunther Steiner, team leader: “Not the worst session. We’ve been trying to evaluate the new items on Kevin’s car – right now they look promising. We still have to work with the balance sheet, but we haven’t figured out what to do with it yet.
In the second practice session Mick had problems with the front wing – it didn’t provide the necessary downforce and we need to find out the cause. Otherwise a good session.
Apparently we are waiting for different track conditions tomorrow due to rain, but we already have a lot of information to analyze. Everything is going well at the moment.”
