Max Verstappen confidently won the sprint in Miami, although he complained during the short race on Saturday about the car’s behavior, which he was not completely satisfied with. His Red Bull Racing teammate finished third.
Max Verstappen (1st): “I don’t think I had the best start, so at the start I had to push Charles Leclerc aside a bit in Turn 1, but luckily it worked.
The safety car then appeared on track, which neutralized the situation somewhat, but then we were able to gradually increase the lead, although it was not entirely ideal. Overall, we have something to work on. With the new format of the sprint weekend we will at least still have the opportunity to adjust the settings, so let’s hope we can achieve improvements in the car’s behavior before qualifying, and especially before tomorrow’s race.
Still, it’s always nice to win, I’m happy and besides, we have identified a number of things we need to work on.”
Sergio Perez (3rd): “At the beginning of the race it was not possible to get ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, overtaking was difficult, but as soon as I managed, I was already three seconds behind Charles Leclerc, and since the sprint did not last long, it was difficult to overtake him.
I closed the gap to two seconds, but it was difficult to get closer. In any case, we will prepare for the other events of the weekend. The support from the fans in Miami has been absolutely amazing, it’s a pleasure to be here and I really hope we can give them a great race this weekend.”
