In recent months, there has been active discussion in Formula 1 about the future of Max Verstappen and his possible departure from Red Bull Racing, although the driver still has a current contract with the team until the end of 2028.
Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has publicly stated that he would like to see Max in his team, and disagreements between the Thai and Austrian owners of parent company Red Bull only added fuel to the fire.
Now BBC Sport claims that Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko is willing to help Verstappen leave the team if the reigning world champion expresses such a wish. According to British journalists, Max has no plans to change teams in 2025, but Verstappen’s management team and the driver himself doubt whether Red Bull will be able to build a competitive power plant in 2026 under the new technical regulations.
In addition, it is already known about the departure of Adrian Newey from Red Bull Racing, which could also be one of the factors for Verstappen’s departure.
