Max Verstappen only finished fourth in practice two in Hungary and said Red Bull Racing would not be able to match Ferrari’s speed this weekend if the sessions were held on a dry track.
Max Verstappen (4th): “Apparently the opponents are slightly ahead of us, such a deficit will not be easy to win back. We will analyze everything and try to reduce it, and tomorrow we will see what the weather will be like. I don’t think we can compete with them on a dry track, but in the rain anything is possible.
We knew in advance that there would be difficulties in Hungary and today we tried to find a balance between fast and slow sections. Sometimes it got better, sometimes worse. We have a lot of work to do here.”
Sergio Perez (9th): “Today we were actively experimenting and trying out different configuration options to get more out of the car. The day brought some interesting ideas, I hope this experience will allow us to gain speed with tanks full and empty tomorrow.
Yes, the Ferrari cars were very fast on Friday, but I am optimistic. A little rain can change the balance of power a little. I look forward to continuing.”
