RB team driver Daniel Ricciardo will take part in the creation of a comedy series.
Disney-owned streaming service Hulu has launched Downforce, a sitcom set in Formula 1. The story is about an heiress to a racing dynasty who takes over the family business and team management.
The screenwriters and showrunners of the project are Alec Berg and Adam County, who have worked on comedy films and TV series such as ‘Eurotrip’, ‘The Dictator’, ‘Community’, ‘Silicon Valley’ and others.
Berg and County invited Daniel Ricciardo to serve as executive producer. The Australian driver will act as an advisor and help promote the series to fans.
Daniel Ricciardo is not the only driver producing a Hollywood project. Lewis Hamilton is involved in the making of a film about the Apx Grand Prix team with Brad Pitt in the title role. Former Haas team boss Günter Steiner is working on a sitcom about a sports boss, for which he himself is the inspiration.
