IndyCar: Pourchaire will remain with Arrow McLaren until the end of the season

Theo Pourcher, who made his IndyCar debut three weeks ago, will continue to drive for Arrow McLaren until the end of the season – as the American team announced, he will only miss the Indy 500 race, which will be held on May 26. But already this weekend, last year’s Formula 2 champion will appear at the start of the stage in Indianapolis, which will take place on a road circuit, mainly constructed along the stadium section of the famous circuit.

In his very first IndyCar race, held in Long Beach, Pourcher, driving the No. 6 Dallara-Chevrolet, regained many positions to finish 11th, and the French driver’s professionalism made a very good impression on the Arrow McLaren. On May 6, he successfully completed tests on the oval track in Illinois, so now he can compete on such tracks.

Gavin WardTeam Principal of Arrow McLaren: “We are delighted to continue working with Theo. He has proven to be a quick learner and we believe his skills and mental attitude will help him adapt and make him more comfortable in the IndyCar Series.

The most important thing now is to continue his development and translate what he has learned into results on the track.”

Theo Buyer: “IndyCar is one of the best racing series in motorsports and I can now speak from personal experience. I will continue to drive for Arrow McLaren until the end of the season and am looking forward to taking on this challenge. I am determined to make the most of these special opportunities and am committed to continuing to learn and improve every race weekend.

I have enjoyed my first two races with this team and I know we have a lot of potential. Of course I would like to thank Zac Brown, Gavin Ward and Tony Kanaan, as well as the Sauber team, for making this possible.”

It was no coincidence that Pourcher mentioned Sauber – formally he remains the reserve driver of the Swiss team in Formula 1, but he will no longer participate in the Super Formula series, although initially his plans for 2024 were precisely related to this Japanese championship.

Arrow McLaren has not yet announced who will drive the No. 6 car in the Indy 500.
