Mercedes experimented with the car’s settings and configuration in Hungary on Friday, but made no progress…
Andrew Shovlinchief race engineer: “Today we actively experimented with the car and the changes we made in the second session threw us back a step.
In the first practice the car was more stable and faster, but we were convinced that we could make it better. In the second practice Lewis damaged the car a bit on a run of low fuel laps which affected her pace negatively, but the main reason is that some of the settings changes were wrong.
During the training we learn and experiment. These experiments are not always successful, but tomorrow we will bring back the previous configuration of the machine and everything will work. ”
George Russell (8th): “Not the best Friday for us, but we worked hard, although the forecast in qualifying promised rain. On Sunday, the conditions also change, so today we arranged something like testing. It was possible to optimize the settings for the current conditions, but they will not work for the rest of the weekend.
Although it turned out to be a difficult day, it was still very productive. We lost more than we expected from the leaders, maybe a few problems, but tomorrow will be a very different day, like Sunday, so nothing is lost yet.
Lewis Hamilton (11th): “Compared to last week and the car remained the same, and the drivers, but the feeling here is completely different. The behavior of the car changes incredibly from track to track, we have to figure out how to make it work. As long as the car doesn’t have stability, it won’t do what we expect it to do.”
