Bottas: I hope the new products will help me earn points at Imola

After six rounds of the season, Sauber is in last place in the constructors’ championship. The team’s engineers have prepared new products for the Grand Prix in Imola and the drivers expect to score points this weekend.

Valtteri Bottas: “It’s great to be back in Imola on an old-fashioned circuit with a lot of history and fun to drive. It is always an honor for me to compete on the historic circuit and feel the support of the Italian fans in the stands.

I hope that with our return to Europe the situation will change for us. It wasn’t our weekend in Miami, but the team still learned a lot and I hope the lessons learned will help us improve.

We will be bringing several new products to Imola, which should help us take a step forward. I hope we can earn our first points of the season.

After some difficult races I am motivated to perform well in Imola and next week in Monaco to get the best possible start to the European part of the season.”

Guanyu Zhou: “The team has been working hard over the past two weeks to regroup after Miami and focus on preparing new products for Imola.

I’m happy to be working on this circuit again, because last year I couldn’t do this due to the cancellation of the stage. I have fond memories of this region of Italy, having spent a lot of time here when I competed in the junior racing series. I like coming here.

The characteristics of the circuit in Imola are different than in Miami, we will have new things on the car, so we are confident and motivated to change the course of the season. We have already seen how important it is to qualify well in a good position and I hope that a high starting position will help the team to fight for points on Sunday.”
