Domenicali does not promise that Italy will retain both Grands Prix

Stefano Domenicali noted before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix that Italy occupies an important place in the Formula 1 calendar, but did not promise that in the future two races would remain in his home country – in Imola and Monza.

“Imola and Monza and racing in Italy in general are a central part of the championship calendar, but we are concerned about the problems related to the resources of their promoters, as well as to the infrastructure of the circuits,” Gazzetta dello Sport quotes the president. of Formula 1. – These problems need to be solved. Today, if some countries do not have the desire to invest, cooperate with us or make long-term plans, they risk being left without the Grand Prix.

We give until the end of the year, and then we will reevaluate the situation. But we are negotiating the prospects for the Grand Prix of Italy and Emilia-Romagna both with the government and with the national car club ACI.

It is theoretically possible to keep both breeds after 2026, but at this point it is quite difficult to talk about it; objective reasons prevent this; In any case, there is a need to accelerate the process of change, and this applies not only to the safety of the race tracks, but also to the services offered to fans.

Serious difficulties are also related to the fact that we receive requests from all over the world. Many countries want to get their hands on Formula 1 racing, interest in the championship is growing both in Asia and the USA, but after Madrid’s successful initiative, a noticeable increase in interest is also being observed in Europe.

The championship stage in Imola is special in every way, it reminds us of the transience of time, but even the sad pages of history are important if their lessons are used correctly. The tragedies of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger and last year’s flood make us remember this Grand Prix. These dramatic events changed the approach to safety or allowed people to return to normal life after a natural disaster.

When we talk about Ferrari, fans want to see that the new products presented at Imola will help the Scuderia drivers get even closer to the leaders, although the competition on the circuits is already fiercer this year. Furthermore, we can expect Lewis Hamilton to receive a warmer welcome as many are already looking forward to next season. Maranello has already announced the arrival of new technicians, but there are also other interesting rumors that I cannot comment on.”
