Toto Wolff: A quarter of the season is already over

Before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the head of the Mercedes team summarized the results of the last stage and spoke about his expectations…

Toto Wolff: “A quarter of the season is already over. These six races have not been easy, but we clearly understand where we need to improve and we have set out a clear path to achieve this task. It will be a few more races before we see what the outcome will be, but everyone is working hard to get the new stuff out as quickly as possible. In the meantime we will try to get the most out of the machine we have. We will be bringing some updates to Imola and hope they will allow us to take the next step forward.

After two weekends with Saturday sprints, we return to a more familiar format. This gives us more time to work with new products, but Imola is a difficult circuit where it is not easy for cars and drivers. There are both fast and flowing sections, but also slow sections. The track is narrow, with rough surfaces and varying terrain. It’s very difficult to catch up there, but we’re all looking forward to the challenge.

Of course, together with the rest of the paddock, we will take the time to remember Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, who we lost 30 years ago. As a team we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz’s victory in the Targa Florio in 1924. The Mercedes-Benz Classic team have done an excellent job restoring the original car and we look forward to seeing it on Wednesday in the Trofeo Bandini and then on the track this weekend.”
