Andrea Stella: Now we must redouble our efforts

Thanks to Lando Norris’ recent win in Miami, McLaren has strengthened its position in the Constructors’ Championship and sits confidently in third place, with almost twice as many points as Mercedes. Naturally, the drivers are in a combative mood before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and plan to start the European phase of the season with a successful performance.

Lando Norris: “I’m going to Imola as a race winner and it gives me a good feeling. When I showed up at the McLaren Technology Center (MTC) with the winning trophy, it was a unique moment as everyone in the team took the time to come together and celebrate the success.

We have been through a lot in the past six years and now we only want one thing: to experience as many moments like this as possible.

At MTC I also did some simulator work to prepare with my engineers for the next two rounds of the season, with a week in between. We are now fully focused on the race in Imola and looking at how we can make further improvements.

Two years have passed since the last Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, but we are ready to return to this circuit. This is one of my favorite races and I can’t wait to get back to work on the legendary circuit and perform again in front of the great Italian fans.”

Oscar Piastri: “Now Imola is waiting for us! In Miami I couldn’t get the result we expected, but it was still one of my most confident performances. It’s great that we celebrated the victory with the team last week, but now we are hungry for new successes, which means we have already achieved a lot.

I’m about to ride my first Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. It’s a shame we couldn’t have a race at this track last year, but we’re happy to be back in Imola. Let’s hope we can put on a good show for the fans.

At the team base I worked with the engineers, performed several sessions on the simulator and I feel that I was very well prepared. I hope we can earn a lot of points for the team.”

Andrea Stella, Team Manager: “After a remarkable result in Miami, the team gathered at our Woking base to celebrate the hard work and dedication that has brought us to this point. But this does not mean that our mission is complete.

This result has given new impetus to our goal of regularly achieving podium finishes and winning races, and we must now redouble our efforts.

In preparation for the first race of the European leg of the season, the team has restructured. Imola is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar and there should be new opportunities for us to top up our points.

After the natural disaster that hit the region last year, we are happy to return to Emilia-Romagna to welcome the Italian fans again.”
