After switching from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo/Sauber in 2022, Valtteri Bottas spoke with some satisfaction about the lack of strict company rules in his new team compared to his previous employer. Now, however, the Finn is willing to make certain compromises to sign a contract with the Audi or Mercedes factory team.
When Bottas was asked at Imola if he could return to the Brackley team, Valtteri replied: “At the moment all options are possible. But at the same time, my priority will be a long-term contract.
I’m sure a good compromise is possible. I have worked in the corporate world before and know how things work there. I can handle it, but the most important thing is that the team respects me and gives me the opportunity to achieve results. But I am confident that a compromise can be reached on every issue.
I am currently negotiating on several fronts and some progress has already been made. I do not rely on one option and consider several options, but for me the priority is a multi-year contract.
I don’t need a one-year contract to stay in Formula 1. I need a long-term project with specific goals and respect for what I can achieve. This is the most important thing.
Of course, a fast car is preferable, but it is more important to guarantee the future for several years to work with the team on our goals.”
