Oscar Piastri is cautious about McLaren’s chances at Imola. The Australian doubts whether the team can claim victory this weekend.
Oscar Piastri: “It is very difficult to say what our prospects are this weekend. We came to the China and Miami stages expecting problems, but it turned out we had one of our strongest weekends. The weekend in Miami was exactly like that.
We realized that there was no point in predicting the balance of power. You have to come to the track and look at the conditions. But it will be difficult in Imola. Ferrari has prepared new items. I don’t know if Red Bull has any updates, but they are constantly improving the car. We can’t stand still and expect to be competitive every weekend.
It would be naive to think that because we won one race we can now fight for victory every weekend. But we have certainly closed the gap. The team is receiving more and more information as the season progresses and this helps us enormously.”
