Ferrari is not the only team that has prepared important technical innovations for the Imola stage. The Scuderia has upgraded the SF-24 for the first time since the start of the season and carried out a first check of the updates last week during the official shooting day at the factory training ground in Fioroano.
The list of improvements presented by Ferrari includes seven items, but the main sights are the air intakes on the side of the pontoon, the updated engine case, the diffuser and the rear wing.
As is clear from the Italian team’s explanation, the P-shaped air duct openings improve the quality of the flow passing over the edges of the bottom, and the new engine housing corresponds to the changed configuration of the cooling system. But it also helps optimize the flow to the rear of the machine.
The diffuser configuration has been revised to work effectively with all other changes, including the rear suspension and underbody edges.
Red Bull Racing’s dominance continues this season, but the champion team is not resting on its laurels and is also intensively modernizing the RB20, which features a new front wing and nose cone, as well as an improved underbody.
Mercedes also worked on the underside of the W15, but also introduced a new rear wing and an additional rear wing.
The list of new products prepared by Aston Martin is even longer than that of Ferrari – the Silverstone team has nine of them, and they affect almost all critical areas of the AMR24: front wing, underbody, diffuser, hood, rear suspension, etc. In addition, they are all designed to generally increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the chassis and not only are they made taking into account the specific characteristics of the Imola circuit.
But the wings of McLaren cars were modernized precisely with the characteristics of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit in mind. Alpine, Williams and Sauber also reported some minor improvements.
Haas vehicles feature an updated rear suspension, including changes to the upper control arm fairings.
Only the Visa RB team has not announced any new products, although this stage is a home for them in every sense, as the base is very close to Imola.
