Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll trained in Imola on Friday to assess the updates prepared for the first European stage of the season. The team will have to evaluate the information collected, but the riders are already positive.
Fernando Alonso (10th): “It is nice to return to the traditional Friday program after a number of stages with sprints. We were able to complete many laps and evaluate the new products prepared for this stage.
The team has collected a large amount of information. We will analyze it and understand what impact the new items have on the car.
Looking ahead to Saturday we know traffic will be an issue during qualifying. “So we have to choose the right moment to take to the track and take advantage of it to have a good chance in Sunday’s race.”
Lance walk (13th): “I always like to come back to Imola because it is an interesting circuit with a rich history. The day turned out to be productive: we installed new items on the car and did a lot of testing, evaluating the updates. The team has collected a large amount of information, which we will study in the evening.
I’m looking forward to qualifying. The gaps are minimal, but thanks to the high speed we will be able to secure a good starting position in the race.”
