Charles Leclerc: New products meet expectations

Charles Leclerc led the protocol for the second free practice at Imola and set the best time on Friday. The Ferrari driver said that the new products the team has prepared for the seventh stage of the season are working as expected.

His teammate Carlos Sainz is also satisfied with the speed of the car and explained his sixth fastest time by saying that he could not drive a clear lap on soft tires.

Charles Leclerc (1st): “All in all a positive day. Everything went smoothly and we completed all planned tests. Apparently we are quite competitive, but tomorrow the weather conditions will change, especially the wind, and we have to take this factor into account.

New products work according to expectations and that is also positive. It’s great to see so many red flags in the stands!”

Carlos Sainz (6th): “Good Friday to the team. We were quick in the first and second sessions, adjusting the settings between sessions. Apparently this allowed me to take a step in the right direction – I’m quite happy with the car. I didn’t manage to get a clear lap on the Soft, but I’m sure we’re in good shape.

After two stages of sprints, it’s great that we have time to run tests and try a different approach to working with the car and new products. There are still some things to do before qualifying, but I’m already looking forward to tomorrow.”
