Norris was hampered by problems in the second training session

Oscar Piastri showed the second fastest time in the second practice of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The McLaren driver is satisfied with the work done today.

His teammate Lando Norris could have set the best lap, but he made a mistake in the third sector on new soft tires and abandoned the attempt. At the end of the session, the winner of the last race in Miami was on the twelfth line of the protocol.

Oscar Piastri (2nd): “We worked on Friday. I think this was one of our most successful Fridays and we are in good form. The gaps are minimal, so we’ll see what positions we take tomorrow, but the day proved encouraging.

I felt comfortable behind the wheel from the first lap, so I’m looking forward to Saturday. The team did a great job getting the remaining updates to my car, so kudos to them.”

Lando Norris (12th): “Not a bad day, although sometimes not everything went smoothly. We planned a test program – the team wanted to evaluate something taking into account the new features that appeared on the car in Miami.

At the same time, we faced minor issues that made the task a little more difficult than we had hoped.

However, the car drove well and we made progress all day, which I’m happy with. There’s still some work to be done tomorrow, but I think we’ll have a successful Saturday.”

Andrea StellaTeam Leader: “All in all a productive day with no major problems with the car, with the exception of a minor electronic fault in Lando’s car, which we identified and resolved.

Otherwise, we managed to complete the planned program, including studying the new products installed on the car during the first training in Miami. During the sprint weekend we simply did not have enough time to carry out all the necessary procedures. The good news is that everything is working as expected and the riders have been able to work with the settings and understand the tires better.

We have opportunities to improve. Some competitors look quite fast, but Lando and Oscar are happy with the car and we are in good shape for the remaining sessions of the weekend.”
