Formula 3 driver Martinius Stenshorn, recently included in McLaren’s youth program, has been suspended by the FIA from participating in the youth championship at Silverstone.
The reason was that Stenshorn took part in the British Formula 3 podium at Silverstone without permission from the FIA. The federation believed that this would give Martinius an “unfair advantage” during the Formula 3 round at Silverstone in July.
The FIA noted that if the driver had pre-registered to participate in the British Formula 3 race, he would not have been allowed due to the similarity of the cars in this series to Formula 3 cars points.
Another Formula 3 driver Nikola Tsolov was suspended from participation in the championship phase in Spa for a similar offense: he drove in the Formula 3 European Cup in Belgium.
Arvid Lindbland, who competes in Formula 3, was fined £20,000 for taking part in the British Formula 3 tests at Silverstone. He must now pay half of this amount, and in the event of a similar violation, the other half within a year.
