Pirelli is waiting for one pit stop

The long drive through the pit lane and the narrow circuit virtually eliminate the role of strategy in tomorrow’s race, unless the safety car shows up…

Mario IsolaPirelli: “Qualifying was an exciting race with almost equal results between the teams, but Max Verstappen was once again in first place. Given the very small difference in results between Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari, tomorrow’s race could not be less exciting.

The ride through the pit lane in Imola is one of the longest of the season: 28 seconds. Overtaking on a narrow circuit with one DRS zone is difficult, so the most likely strategy is one pit stop.

Judging from Formula 3 and Formula 2 races, the increase in gravel traps sees cars getting stuck in safety zones after incidents, leading to red flags, and this is another factor in Sunday’s Grand Prix.

We’ve included three of the softest compounds. The C5 proved to perform well in one fast lap without requiring much preparation, while the C4 and C3 are very competitive over long distances. This is likely what the drivers will use in the race, and the C5 could make an appearance if the safety car appears in the final laps. Anyone who counts on this can start with Hard to expand the first segment as much as possible, and then move on to Medium or Soft.”
