Sauber is not satisfied with the results of the day – in qualifying both drivers fell out of contention in the first session…
Valtteri Bottas (16th): “Not the easiest weekend. It’s always difficult to get out of the first part of qualifying, especially with such close results, and the track condition has changed – strong winds got in the way. It was possible to regain a few hundredths, but due to a sudden tailwind I lost time in the twelfth turn.
The positive is our race pace. To get back, we need a little luck and a little action. We are ready to seize every opportunity.”
Guanyu Zhou (17th): “Unfortunately the weekend is not going so well so far. I started the day with a new bottom and although I had to make a few changes after the third session because I was a second behind my teammate, the team did a great job.
Our update package, while small, seems to work. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. It won’t be an easy race, many teams will follow a similar strategy, but it’s a great old track where anything can happen. Hopefully we can bounce back.”
