Stefano Domenicali, the president and CEO of Formula 1, is from Imola and has a special bond with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, although we recently quoted him as saying that the future of this race is not at all guaranteed.
But it makes perfect sense that in Imola he decided to gather the team leaders at one table, so last night he invited them all to dinner at one of the local restaurants.
James Vowles shared a photo taken during the party and commented: “It was a nice evening in the company of Stefano and the team leaders. Stefano is from Imola and treated us to a delicious dinner. We shared wonderful stories at the table all evening, but tomorrow we will continue to battle on the track.”
Interestingly, everyone except Andrea Stella came to the dinner dressed as they saw fit, and only the McLaren team manager came in uniform. Even though he is Italian, he could afford to relax even more. But apparently he has to stick to the rules that apply to the British team.
One of the authors of the numerous comments that collected this photo recalled that Zac Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, also came to similar informal parties in the past in team uniform.
