Haas F1 were able to earn points in Imola, but without the retirement of their rivals they finished the race in 11th and 12th…
Nico Hulkenberg (11th): “Yuki Tsunoda came in front of me because of a cut, and Sergio pushed forward on new tires – it was impossible to stop him.
To be honest, we lacked speed and the early pit stop made life very difficult. Throughout the long stretch it wasn’t easy to find the right pace, but we were confident that we could compete with confidence in the middle group – which is great compared to last year.
It was a long last lap and we struggled to find good harmony and rhythm. I think we are now convinced that we can compete in the middle of the field. But you always want more and I want to fight for the points, so we have to keep working.”
Kevin Magnussen (12th): “A worthy day. There were no slips beforehand, so twelfth place reflects the speed of our car, but we also had to fight for it. Unfortunately I started far behind, otherwise I would have hoped for more.
We showed a good pace, overtook our opponents from the middle group teams, but due to our starting position we did not earn any points today.”
