Another city stage may appear in Formula 1

Another stage on the city circuit may appear on the Formula 1 calendar in the foreseeable future. The Thai government is making active efforts to organize the Bangkok Grand Prix.

In the past month, Thai Prime Minister Settha Thaweesin has met twice with Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali. The first meeting took place at the end of April, when Domenicali visited Thailand after the Chinese Grand Prix, where the country’s authorities expressed their desire to organize the championship podium.

The next meeting between Thavisin and Domenicali took place last weekend in Imola. In addition to the head of Formula 1, the Prime Minister of Thailand met with the head of Red Bull Racing Christian Horner and Thai driver Alex Albon, who recently signed a new multi-year contract with Williams.

It is believed that Red Bull’s Thai shareholders will become one of the key partners in the city circuit racing project. In addition, Albon’s new contract may also have to do with the race: in Thailand they want a local racer to start.

The Thai press reports that the debut race in Bangkok could take place in 2027 or 2028, with a contract announced before the end of this year.
