Haas F1 is optimistically looking forward to the weekend in Monaco…
Ayo Komatsu, Team boss: “I’m looking forward to the Monaco stage, this year the team has done a good job in the wind tunnel to achieve high downforce. We have also improved the stability of the car, which is important in Monaco.
On this track you can easily get a lot of understeer and then you can’t go fast – that’s one of the problems with this year’s car. We are aware of this, we will try to find the optimal balance, then the weekend can be interesting.
In Monaco everything depends on the qualifications, on the driver’s confidence during training; you should not waste a lot of time looking for settings – the driver should spend maximum time on the track. This means that the car you drive away with on Friday morning must be in order immediately.”
Nico Hulkenberg: “I have lived in Monaco since 2015, this is my 11th Monaco Grand Prix. As a child I always watched this race. Monaco is an iconic city, it has everything: a palace, hotels, where a dress code still applies. Everyone accepts and respects history and heritage – and I like that.
In Monaco everything depends on qualifications. It is important to feel the car and bring all three sectors together in qualifying. It is a race on the cutting edge, it is a challenge every year and it is one of my favorite circuits!”
Kevin Magnussen: “Monaco is the best circuit on the calendar, driving the car through the narrow streets is an incredible pleasure.
We know there will be no overtaking during the race, it would be worth having a sprint stage here on Saturday to add entertainment.
The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the three biggest races, along with the Indy 500 and Le Mans. Winning here is worth a lot and I hope this stage remains on the calendar.
In Monaco all parties are in sight. On other stages they take place in clubs, and in Monaco on the track – on the Rascasse corner, where people spill drinks on the track! I love Monaco, it’s my favorite race.”
