Williams was waiting for the rain qualifying, but it took place on a dry track – and both drivers dropped out in the first session…
Alex Albon (17th): “I’m happy with my lap in qualifying, but it rained in the morning and in the afternoon we couldn’t change tracks to a dry track, the wind direction changed – and we missed downforce the whole session. We were very fast on the straights, but that doesn’t really help on the Hungaroring.
We will think about possible strategy options and hopefully it will rain tomorrow.”
Nicholas Latific (20th): “After a positive morning practice on a wet track, we had to change lanes for dry weather. I had hoped to be closer to the second session, but I made a serious mistake in the last corner when a strong tailwind caused an oversteer.
We are still missing downforce, we know what to add. It is difficult to overtake at the Hungaroring, but tomorrow I will try to take every chance to win back.”
