During the Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren cars will be painted in colors dedicated to the memory of Ayrton Senna, team driver Oscar Piastri has prepared a special helmet design. McLaren is counting on a productive race weekend.
Lando Norris: “Next stop Monaco! One of the most difficult race weekends of the season awaits us. Overtaking on the track is not easy and qualifying for Monaco is one of the biggest challenges in motorsport. It all comes down to getting started straight away and gradually building confidence in yourself and the car from the first session.
It was great to fight for the win in Imola; we have the potential to move forward. The race in Monaco will be special because our cars are painted in the colors of Senna. It looks fantastic and I can’t wait to get on track.”
Oscar Piastri: “It is an honor for me to compete in Monaco in a car painted in the colors of Senna. He was a master on the track and scored six victories, and it is important for us to pay tribute to a man who has been an example to everyone in our sport.
I also have a specially designed helmet that will be auctioned with proceeds going to the Ayrton Senna Institute, which is committed to empowering and changing lives.
The previous two weekends in Miami and Imola were some of my strongest weekends in Formula 1. It’s great to go to Monaco with this momentum.”
Andrea Stella, team manager: “We are going to the Monaco Grand Prix after a race in which we reached the podium again. The team is showing stable results and fighting for victories – we are in great shape.
Monaco has an interesting track and we know how difficult it is to gain positions during the race, so we need to qualify strongly again. Nothing is impossible.
The Monaco circuit is special for McLaren. The team has won a lot here in the past with Ayrton Senna, so it is only natural that we pay tribute to him by racing a car with a livery inspired by his helmet design.”
