Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez spoke about their expectations for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen: “The battle in Imola was exciting, so it was great to win. Now we wait for the second race with double stages.
Monaco has a city circuit, where it is important to avoid mistakes from the very beginning of the weekend and qualify well, because overtaking is especially difficult here. The outcome of a race often depends on strategy and requires a lot of concentration and focus.
The team has analyzed what needs to be done and what we need to work on to get the best out of the car, and now we are looking forward to the weekend ahead.
Monaco is always incredibly busy and hectic, so it was great to come home, relax and recharge before the race. It’s always nice when you have the option to come home straight away in the evening after the race.”
Sergio Perez: “The Monaco race is one of the most striking on the calendar of the season, and I was lucky to be among the winners. Sometimes it seems like the racing takes a back seat here because everything about the podium is so big, but we always come to Monaco fully focused. The team ensures that we pay full attention to what is important: how we get the most out of the car.
Overtaking on Sunday is almost impossible, so it is necessary to show results in qualifying on Saturday. After a difficult weekend in Italy I know I have to do my best. Nothing worked at Imola, so we worked hard to understand the reasons.
It’s not just me, the engineers or the mechanics, but the whole team has to make sure we get the best out of a very fast car and finish in the positions we should be in: on the podium.
I want to get back in shape. We know that if we do everything right, we will perform strongly next weekend.”
