Last year Esteban Ocon reached the podium in Monaco and finished third. The Alpine driver does not expect a repeat of this result in 2024.
Esteban Ocon: “I have very pleasant memories of last year’s race, but in terms of this weekend’s chances we have to be firmly on the ground.
The team had a difficult start to the season; we are already having problems getting into the top ten. The team only earned one point, so this year it is important to maximize every opportunity, increase confidence and improve the car’s weaknesses.
We will find out what our chances are in qualifying, but we don’t expect to be on the podium this weekend.
The team has already noticeably increased its speed compared to the beginning of the season, but the problem is that our starting point was far behind – on the last row. Now we regularly reach the second part of qualifying and are closing the gap with the top ten. Yes, this is progress, but it is small progress.
At the Monaco circuit the result largely depends on the driver, but at the moment we have problems with the car. Let’s see what results we can show.”
