Alex Albon: The front tires are very grainy

Alex Albon set the ninth fastest time in the second practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Williams driver said front tire granulation was observed on the FW46 on Friday.

His teammate Logan Sargent set the eighteenth fastest time and complained of problems with the balance of the car.

Alex Albon (9th): “Today everything was fine, but the problems of last year are repeated: the front tires are difficult to get into the working range and when the rubber is outside the working range it starts to grain. The concept of the car is such that on circuits of this type there always arises a similar problem as in Monaco, and we are working on this problem.

Car excess weight is not a significant factor in Monaco, so apparently we are on par with the rest. Achieving the second part of qualifying is a nice goal, but I hope we can compete for a higher position.”

Logan Sargent (18th): “Today there were both good and bad moments and the second training session did not go too smoothly. In the evening you will have to work on your speed with an empty and full tank. And although not everything went smoothly today, I still enjoyed driving through the streets of Monaco.

You have to solve the balance problems, get the tires working and put all the parts together. We can gain a lot back, so together with the team we will continue working in the evening and see what results we achieve tomorrow.”
