Pirelli will continue testing tires for the 2025 season next week. Italian tire specialists will work with Ferrari for two days on the French Paul Ricard circuit, one day of which will be entirely devoted to testing new intermediate and rain tires.
“We have two days of testing planned,” Pirelli chief engineer Simone Berra told the press in Monaco. – The first day will be dedicated to testing slicks, and the second day we will work on a wet track. We will be testing rain and intermediate tires, but priority will be given to rain tires. We want to improve the effectiveness of this composition.
Currently, rain tires have noticeable problems with overheating, which causes the tires to lose efficiency quite quickly. To solve the problem of overheating, we are working on reducing the movement of the upper layer of the tire.
We also have tests planned with intermediate tires using the new compound. Our goal is to make intermediate tires so that they can be used without thermal covers, just like rain tires.”
