In qualifying in Monaco, Yuki Tsunoda was again ahead of Daniel Ricciardo…
Yuki Tsunoda (8th): “The day turned out to be much more difficult than expected, but we picked up the pace considerably and made progress every session.
The first part of qualifying was difficult, but we were able to get the best out of the car. In Monaco, any mistake can be fatal. I felt the pressure, but remained calm.
Tomorrow will also be difficult, it is difficult to overtake here, it is important to have a good start and race flawlessly.
Overall, as a team we did a fantastic job of performing consistently this week. I’m happy to start eighth in Monaco.”
Daniel Ricciardo (13th): “Qualifying in Monaco is very important, it is a shame to start outside the top ten. Yesterday it seemed like we were in good shape, but today we took a little step back.
I was doing clean fast laps, it just wasn’t enough to get the most out of the car where I needed to. There were problems in some areas, but this was not due to my mistakes.
It proved difficult to get the tires working on the first lap, and when we managed to increase the pace it was not possible to match the speed of the rest. I have been qualified here several times in approximately this position, and that of course does not make life any easier. I will work with the team to better understand some of the issues.”
