Sauber drivers completed the qualifying protocol in Monaco…
Valtteri Bottas (19th): “Difficult day. I hit the wall a bit during training this morning, but that was no problem. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough fast lap speed to qualify for the second session.
Overall, the weekend is proving to be difficult for our team. Monaco is one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar, and this has its best aspects and difficulties. There is a lot to discover at night to find that extra step that will help you achieve more tomorrow.
It won’t be easy to start from last place, but hope is not lost; We know very well that anything can happen here. We take advantage of every opportunity.”
Guanyu Zhou (20th): “The whole weekend was not easy, qualifying was no exception. Today we couldn’t adjust the car and I struggled with a lack of grip for a long time. On a track like this you need confidence and grip to get the most out of your laps and although I thought my attempts were fairly clean we fell well behind.
In Monaco, Saturday is the most important, but the race is a different story, we will use it to better understand what we are missing to close the gap.”
