Charles Leclerc won the Monaco Grand Prix, but only succeeded on the sixth attempt – all the greater the joy that the dream has finally come true!
Charles Leclerc (1st): “There are no words to explain this. The race was very difficult. I think the fact that I’ve already started from pole position here twice but we haven’t been able to finish just adds to my emotions!
Of course this victory is very important for me. Thanks to this race, my dream to one day become a Formula 1 driver was born. In general, the race was difficult psychologically, because fifteen laps before the finish you hope that nothing will happen and the emotions start to intensify.
I must say that while driving I thought about my father, who did everything he could to win today, because our common dream was that I would compete in Monaco and win this Grand Prix. Actually, I still can’t believe it!
We had a big lead, but I understood that we had to do 78 laps on one set of tires, and that’s not easy, but we worked well with the tires and it was only in the last ten laps that I was able to improve a little. The car behaved perfectly and for this we have to thank our team, who gave me the opportunity to finally win this race.”
