James Vowles: Our car will get faster and faster

The Monaco stage was the first race of the season, after which the Williams team finally opened the scoring for the points they earned, and James Vowles does not hide his joy about this. By the way, the head of the team from Grove praised Alex Albon, who took 9th place, but did not say a word at all about Logan Sargent, and this leads to certain thoughts…

James Vowles: “The end of the weekend was absolutely amazing! We earned two points and returned to 8th place in the Constructors’ Championship, and now the rivalry will only increase until the end of the season.

We have taken a confident step forward, but it is not just that the points are already open: we achieved this in Monaco, on a track where we always had problems in previous years.

This was partly possible because the team has laid a solid foundation, we have a very well balanced car and Alex did an excellent job all weekend. But still I have reasons for some disappointment, because we were never able to demonstrate all our capabilities; We couldn’t overtake on this track, which really held us back.

Now we have to try to take advantage of the moment and build on what we have achieved, and we hope we can perform better in the coming races. We are modernizing the car and already in Canada it will become lighter – I hope this will contribute to further progress.

The season is long, there are 24 races and the end of the championship is still far away, but our car will become faster and faster. In the meantime, back at our base in Grove, we need to take stock of what we did well and what we didn’t do over the last two weekends. It is also important to understand how to act to continue making progress.”
