Last week we reported that former Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto had held talks with Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll. Today the Italian and German press write that Binotto’s contract with Aston Martin may be announced in the near future.
If the published information is correct, Mattia Binotto will take over the position of chief technical director, which has been vacant since Andy Green left Aston Martin in early 2023.
In his new role, Binotto will be the direct supervisor of the team’s technical director Dan Fallows. Fellows will remain responsible for the design of the racing cars, while Binotto, together with Martin Whitmarsh, will focus on creating new technical structures and will be responsible for the strategic development of the team. Team boss Mike Krak will remain in his position.
The possible return of Mattia Binotto to Formula 1 will seriously strengthen Aston Martin and is fully in line with Lawrence Stroll’s strategy to create a team that can win the championship.
