Alonso: Judging by the results, we are no longer in the top five

Fernando Alonso did not earn any points for two races in a row, and after Monaco he summarized the weekend in an interview with the Spanish press…

Fernando Alonso: “Based on the results, we are no longer in the top five, but you better ask our manager Mike Krack. This year’s cars are more sensitive to suspension stiffness settings, they are harder to drive and more difficult to handle. But difficult weekends teach us a lot, we draw conclusions and hope for progress.

Overtaking is impossible in Monaco. In other series, where the cars are more compact – such as in Formula 2 – there is at least some chance of overtaking. But our cars are heavier and wider – and we don’t have that chance. And then the soft tires wear out quickly, so everyone rode the distance on Hard and Medium. But it happened like this, we have to come to terms with the fact that in Monaco everything will be decided on Saturday.

This is the magic of Monaco: you have to qualify perfectly, but we were unable to do that. I don’t think anything needs to be changed. As I said on Thursday: I love Monaco, simply because it is Monaco.

Everything will be decided here on Saturday and in all three training sessions we prepare for our fast lap. Unfortunately, traffic in qualifying with these cars, with the downforce we have, is a big problem. But everyone should be able to do this lap on Saturday, but we couldn’t.

I don’t think the 2026 regulations will change anything. The reason is that those who write it do not listen to the opinions of the riders.”
