The legendary French footballer, world and European champion Zinedine Zidane, will start the 24 Hours of Le Mans marathon in 2024.
Zinedine Zidane has accepted the invitation from the organizers of the World Endurance Championship and will come to the marathon as an official starter. He will symbolically wave the French flag on Saturday, June 15 at 4:00 PM local time.
Le Mans often invites well-known people as starters. Over the years, Brad Pitt (2016), Rafael Nadal (2018) and LeBron James (2023) gave the go-ahead to start the marathon.
Zinedine Zidane: “The 24 Hours of Le Mans marathon is incomparable. It is an iconic race for motorsport fans around the world and a source of great pride for France. My head is full of images of racing, legendary racers, great stories, even if they are all stills from television or movie scenes!
This will be my first experience and it is of course a great honor for me to take on the role of starter. I can’t wait to be at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15!
