Former Renault team boss Flavio Briatore could return to the team from Enstone.
The Italian Corriere della Sera writes that the head of the Renault group, Luca de Meo, has already entered into negotiations with Briatore and offered him the role of special observer of the Alpine team.
The role does not include Flavio’s day-to-day involvement in team management; his powers will be comparable to those Niki Lauda once had at Mercedes. The newspaper writes that Briatore has accepted De Meo’s offer.
In response to PlanetF1, an Alpine spokesperson responded to the Italian press release: “The team is in regular contact with a number of industry experts in an effort to improve its results. We consider all proposals and, if necessary, seek advice from those with past experience and success. But we do not comment on contacts with specific people.”
