Critics were not happy with the controls in F1 2024

The day before, F1 2024, the official Formula 1 game from Codemasters, was released on console and PC platforms. At the same time, detailed reviews were published, including quite a few critical ones.

The developers of F1 2024 tried to improve the handling of racing cars. Tires, suspension and downforce models have been redesigned, which Codemasters says should deliver “the most authentic and immersive driving experience ever seen in a Formula 1 game.” In reality, reviewers note that the revised management model was not a step forward, but a step back.

It turned out that the F1 2024 car is easier to drive in almost every scenario. The cars seem immune to understeer and offer high levels of mid-corner grip even at standard settings. Oversteer is easy to absorb, but only occurs when exiting slow corners.

The cars feel much lighter and incredibly sharp to drive, and the front wheels have unnatural traction. As a result, the fastest way to take many medium and high-speed turns is to throw the car into the corner with an unnatural steering lock, because the tires always provide the necessary grip.

As a result, driving the car in F1 2024, as noted in the reviews, seems to be the easiest since the developers switched to the Ego game engine in 2015. For some players, this “arcade” control will be a real plus, because it allows you to go through different races in a relaxed way.

But anyone who wants to fully experience what it is like to drive a modern Formula 1 car and test their skills will find the new controls a step back.

F1 2024 is not officially sold in Russia, but IT distributors promise to start shipping discs of the game from the UAE in the coming days.
