Zach Brown advises Michael Andretti to buy one of the teams

Zak Brown believes that the Andretti Cadillac project can always offer the right price for any of the existing Formula 1 teams if they want to be at the start of the world championship as soon as possible.

Recently, Mohammed bin Sulayem, chairman of the FiA, put forward the same idea, which contradicts his previous position, as he previously believed that the Andretti project already had good prospects.

Under the current deal, Andretti will have to pay a huge fee of $200 million to enter Formula 1, but this can be avoided by taking over the assets of one of the championship teams. Even if no one officially sells anything, the McLaren Racing director is convinced that everything can change if a sufficiently attractive offer is made.

“This would certainly be the easiest way out,” Brown said in an interview with American television channel ESPN. “No one seems to want to sell anything at the moment, but that just means a bigger offer has to be made.” There’s always a certain price, although as far as I understand no one has put a “For Sale” sign on the door yet.

I think Liberty Media’s position is that if you have ten teams that are financially sound, the eleventh and twelfth team spots should be held back and the candidates should meet the highest criteria. In my opinion this is correct.

In the past, there were always teams that could go bankrupt within a year. And now more than half of the championship participants operate for a profit. And to get into Formula 1, you have to pay a lot of money for the franchise. I think Williams was bought for 150 million dollars, but I don’t think that in five years it will be possible to buy an existing team for less than one and a half billion. Overall, the value of teams is growing incredibly quickly.”
