Preparations for the Canadian Grand Prix have been completed in Montreal

The final phase of preparations for the Canadian Grand Prix is underway in Montreal, and on Monday Formula 1 teams began unloading containers of equipment and spare parts and setting up the pits at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

It opens to fans on Thursday, and the local press writes that the number of spectators will exceed 100 thousand on each day of the weekend, although this does not mean that they will all flock to the track immediately.

Montreal is known for the fact that the city becomes a huge festival site during the entire race week, where many interesting events take place. For the first time, the organizers of the Grand Prix decided to follow the example of other promoters and two concerts were included in the official weekend program.

However, according to the Montreal edition of CityNews, unlike other races, these concerts here are not free even for holders of tickets for all days of the weekend, and you have to pay separately about a hundred Canadian dollars to attend them. The Grammy Award-winning American DJ duo The Chainsmokers will be on the circuit on Friday and the popular rapper Pitbull will perform on Sunday evening.

But yesterday, a Williams fan zone opened in downtown Montreal, in the Les Cours Mont-Royal shopping center, which will be open all week: according to tradition, the team’s show cars will be on display there, racing simulators will be running, souvenirs will be sold sold and tomorrow afternoon there will be a fan meeting with Alex Albon and Logan Sargent. Williams boss James Vowles is also expected to be present on Thursday afternoon.

From Wednesday, a special area for fans will also be opened on Crescent Street, where various types of entertainment will be organized for the public: performances by DJs, local music groups, tire changing competitions, etc. This street has served as a traditional platform for such fun activities since 1999 and the It is expected that more than 600,000 people will visit the street in five days.

Of course, countless pubs, clubs and restaurants in Montreal are also prepared for an influx of public: the racing week for the owners of these establishments is one of the most important of the year, during which they manage to make very good money.

But of course the main events of the weekend will take place at the circuit on the island of Notre Dame, which has hosted the Canadian round of the World Championship since 1978, albeit with short breaks. In addition to the Grand Prix, there are also supporting races this year: the Ferrari Challenge competition and a stage of the North American Porsche Carrera Cup.
